Judges: The Terrier Group
Growing up in Scotland, David fell in love with Bull Terriers in the
early 70’s, when he was the frequent house/dog sitter for friends’
Kearby male. He obtained his first Bull Terrier from Breeder-Judge Bob
Thomas in 1981. Subsequently, David and Carolyn purchased a sound, sweet
CH Banbury Barnstormer ROM daughter, who finished her Championship
rather easily and became the Brigadoon Bull Terriers’ foundation bitch.
In the last 26 years, the limited Brigadoon breeding program has
produced a series of American and Canadian Champions, including multiple
national specialty winners, ROM Champions, and group placing dogs.
Probably most notable are AM/CAN CH Brigadoon Black Pepper ROM, who was
a 4 time Silverwood finalist, 3 time Best Colored at Silverwood and CH
Elizabeth Brown O’Brigadoon ROM was the #1 AKC winning Colored Bull
Terrier Bitch in 1990, as was her daughter, CH Brigadoon Belle Starr
ROM, in 1995.
David is a long time member of the Bull Terrier Club of America, Golden
State Bull Terrier Club, Barbary Coast Bull Terrier Club, and the
Monterey Bay Bull Terrier Club. David served for a number of years as
the Genetics Chair for the BTCA Welfare Foundation and President of
MBBTC. He served a term as the Treasurer of the BTCA. He is also an
active member of Northern California Terrier Association and Gavilan
Kennel Club.
David attended the AKC Judges Institute and the Senior Conformation
Judges Institute, and the American Dog Show Judges Advanced Terrier
Institute . David has judged Specialties and regular AKC shows
throughout the United States . He has also judged in Canada , New
Zealand , Australia , France , Holland, Russia, China, Scotland and
England.
